Delight in the peaceful, natural setting and the ambiance of 'rustic luxury' at
Lakewood Lodge is a full log home; not your basic 'cabin.' It was built to be a private retreat and is a 'Step above.' Lakewood Lodge is a luxury rental with more amenities than similar properties. Read the comments - our guests agree!!
It is nestled in the rural mountains of Southwestern Virginia with only a 5 minute walk or drive to our personal dock, where you can fish, canoe, kayak, dock your boat or just relax! Views are of the mountains, open fields, orchard and wooded area. There is only one other small house in view. Glimpses of the shimmering lake can be seen through the trees and from the upstairs, yet it is located far enough from the water to cushion you from early morning boat and jet ski noise.
The lodge is a perfect destination of its own or a jumping-off point for the many recreational activities the New River Valley offers. It is located 10 minutes from I - 81, and 2 New River Trail biking and hiking access points.
It is 45 minutes from Virginia Tech, 20 minutes from Radford University, 15 minutes from Iron Heart Winery and White Barrel Winery. The lodge is a wonderful lodging, without the crowds, for VT and RU home sporting events or graduations. (Recommend you book one year in advance for graduations and as soon as sporting schedules are publicized.)
The lodge is 10 minutes from 2 public boat launches for Claytor Lake; 20 minutes from the state park. Pontoon and pleasure boat rentals may be arranged through local provider, Boats2you.com. We even have them delivered right to your dock!

Wonderful Weekend Retreat
Our second stay at Lakewood Lodge was every bit as a perfect as the first. We shared the lodge with some close friends and everyone enjoyed their stay. Its a perfect size for 4 adults for an extended weekend. The lodge is tastefully decorated and really makes you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. We enjoyed some quiet time on the porch sipping coffee in the morning and listening to the birds. Our only regret was we couldn't stay longer.
Beautiful more than we expected!
We rented two properties from Lakewood. What a wonderful experience. Sherry and her husband own the Lodge and manage the other properties are the nicest people you will ever meet. The Lodge is absolutely adorable! I was really stressed preparing for a wedding and they helped so much with their kindness! We will definitely stay again for just a relaxing vacation. It is quite, peaceful beautiful surrounding!

What a wonderful getaway. We went down for Labor Day weekend and the Virginia Tech game. We were hoping for a peaceful area with access to Claytor Lake. We got much more than we were hoping for. And wonderful hosts to boot. I look forward to visiting again!
Exactly as advertised!
Two of us celebrated a milestone birthday at the lodge. It was private, quiet, absolutely, completely well-equipped, and full of country charm. We enjoyed lake access and proximity to the New River Trail state park. The owners were very accommodating and accessible. In fact we already have recommended the lodge to several friends.

Getaway from kids
This was a wonderful place to stay. The cabin was beautiful, and peaceful. The owners really made you feel at home and ensured that you had everything for your stay. Cannot ask for a better place to stay. We will be back, might even bring the kids.

We booked Lakewood Lodge and another nearby property in the Lakewood Getaways group to house family and friends for our daughter's wedding. Both sites were wonderful. The lodge is in a quiet rural setting with beautifully maintained landscaping. We held a rehearsal dinner there and it was perfect. The owners were so available and accommodating without being at all intrusive. The lodge is well equipped with everything you might need, and the beds are very comfortable. Claytor Lake is within easy walking distance and a fantastic site for swimming/boating/ water sports. We rented kayaks right from the owners and the kids (and adults) all had a blast

Can't wait to go back!
Our second stay at the cabin within 7 years. It felt like home. Everything you need and they are very helpful if there is anything else you may want. My kids don't want to leave. Fire pit and Gazebo were both new to us and we enjoyed both. The swing was still there and my kids favorite. Short walk to the dock where you can fish, swim, kayak or canoe. Very peaceful too, if you just want to sit and relax. The Vaughns were also very accommodating to my in-laws who sometimes could not make the walk. They would give them a ride back to the cabin in their golf cart. Also close to Claytor Lake State Park. We hope to visit again soon!
